Since 1999 I have continually explored the interface between art and life through artworks, critical writing, curatorial projects and publishing. Active internationally, I am currently full-time lecturer in Art Theory at the University of Ulster in The school of Art & Design, Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am also a regular contributor to Ireland's leading art magazine Circa.

Born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland in 1979, I moved to England in 1998 to study visual and sonic arts at the University of Central Lancashire. In 2001, with a full AHRB research scholarship I undertook a Masters degree in Visual Performance (Time Based Art Practices) at Dartington College of Arts, Totnes, Devon. In 2005 with a full DEL scholarship I undertook PhD studies at the University of Ulster in the school of Art and Design, Belfast. I graduated in 2008, winning best Doctoral thesis in school.

The subject of my PhD thesis was the interrelation of art and politics in everyday life. This subject mater is of great importance to me and is something I have explored relentlessly since 1999 through artworks, critical writing, curatorial projects and publishing.  My activities in all these fields has led me to conceive a multifaceted, cross disciplinary art practice and to participate in many international exhibitions, conferences, meetings, publications and dialogues.

I currently live and work in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I lecture, write for publications, create artworks, produce events and occasionally undertake consultancy projects. I continue to be internationally active, collaborating with individuals and groups who are also interested in the interface between art and life and who critically question the social politics of artistic endeavor both historically and contextually within the present.
