Beth Hall and Mark Cooley

Beth Hall (www.bethhall.net) is an artist and educator currently living and working in Northern Virginia with her husband and collaborator Mark Cooley and 7 year old daughter Celia. Hall began working as a commissioned portrait artist while still in high school and later trained in the classical tradition in France and Italy earning an MFA in 1998. Through the years Hall's interest in portraiture has expanded to include an interest in exploring identity and identity politics in a variety of forms including video, installation and digital imaging. Hall has exhibited internationally and has served on the faculty of college and university art departments teaching a diversity of courses including Art History, Design, Drawing and Painting. 

 

Mark Cooley's (www.flawedart.net) work explores the intersections of art, activism and everyday life. Particular interests include: U.S. foreign policy, the fine art and popular culture industries, political economy of new technologies, art/ecology, and sustainable systems. Cooley's work has appeared internationally, in venues such as, Exit Art NYC, The Art Institute of Chicago, The World Social Forum, India, MediaLabMadrid, Spain.  Cooley is currently a professor at George Mason University. He lives in Northern Virginia (USA) with his wife and collaborator Beth Hall and their daughter Celia Cooley.

 

Their daughter, Celia, is seven.
