Hamilton Artists Inc., aluCine and FADO Performance Art Centre are pleased to present: Gabriela Alonso and Nelda Ramos (Quilmes, Argentina)
This special evening includes a screening of performance / video compilations of works made by European and South and Central American artists programmed from the Zonadearte Gallery archives (Quilmes, Argentina); live solo performances from Gabriela Alonso and Nelda Ramos, and an informal Q&A period, followed by a reception with the artists.
Gabriela Alonso and Nelda Ramos work with materials related to their personal expereinces in Argentina, and their encounters with the world as women. These materials include celebratory communal actions with balloons, the reinvention of symbols of militarism found in children's games, the use of icons of domesticity such as milk, and other resistant references to violence against women, children and animals.
